There is no such thing as a quick “fix” when dieting….

There is no quick fix to a healthy and fit body, so ditch the ‘faddy’ diets and ‘miracle’ slimming pills. These may be quick, but not necessarily sustainable in the long term.

I often hear friends, colleagues and fitness class members say to me that they are looking for a quick fix and kick start to lose weight. Who can relate to wanting to lose weight quickly and have tried so many diets such as, Slim fast, special ‘K’, Cambridge, Literlife, Cabbage Soup diet, The Atkins Diet, and I am sure you can think of  many more fad diets that some of you have tried! I am not doubting that some of these diets have worked well for a few of you.  For others who have experienced losing a lot of weight then having that conversation with friends or family saying that from the 3 stone you lost, you have gained at least 2 stone of that back and are very disheartened as to why????

In order to make a difference to body shape and mind, it is about evaluating your current lifestyle and the changes you need to make in order to get the results you want. If you are serious about losing weight and wanting to keep it off , you need to make lifestyle changes!

It will not be easy and you need to plan and keep focused on your end goal.. You will have resistance from yourself to make those changes but also from those surrounding you.

All you have to do is figure out what lifestyle choices you’re going to make. Decide what habits you need to form to maintain the body you want. Now think about all the things that might go wrong, when you make those changes.

For example, if you are overweight, you should start by looking at what you are eating. Often people will over-eat and under-drink. This means that they will eat, even when they are not hungry, just because its lunch time, or because food makes them comfortable, and they won’t drink water regularly throughout the day and leave themselves dehydrated. Tip; if you think you feel hungry have a glass of water, re-evaluate then if still hungry, EAT the right foods.

If not eating enough, thinking that less calories should determine losing weight all you are doing is putting your body in starvation mode. This then leads to when you stop that particular diet your body takes on board all the nutrients you have lacked and holds on to what it can. In order to achieve your end desired results you need to Eat Regularly, Sensibly and Exercise for at east 30 mins daily to maintain a good level of health and well-being.
